Part of the amazingly talented entertainment offered at BJ’s is house band Teenage Rust & The Fabulous Rustettes: Paul, Maddy, Billy, TLutz, Crystal & Howard.
    A spacious table in a spacious room surrounded by wall-size windows looking out on one of the most beautiful and awe inspiring bay-views you've ever seen. A fabulous meal served with pleasant and expert expedience yet never rushed. A relaxing, rustic atmosphere mindful of the serenity of a large log cabin in the country, miles from anything else. What more could you ask for? Nothing. Yet you get this and much, much more at BJ's on the Water. Snuggled right in the bay at 75th St., BJ's has become an Ocean City icon, just this week celebrating 30 years of great food and entertainment. If it's relaxation and a closer walk with nature you want, it's BJ's. If it's a great meal at a great price, it's BJ's. If it's an intimate night or a rip-roaring time, it's BJ's. And, if you want some of the best entertainment around, it's BJ's.
    My family and I love this place and love its owners, Billy and Maddy Carder. Even though I don't get out much anymore, (doin' the "mom thing"), every time I do get up to BJ's, Billy and Maddy treat me like family, (the ones you actually like), and like they see me all the time. But they treat everyone like that. I love that about them. They're just down-to-earth good people and that attitude is reflected in their wonderful place.
    My daughter, Candy, and I were greeted at the door by Marko and seated by lovely Lexi. Much to our delight she sat us right by one of the many windows directly overlooking the bay. I had to stop and catch my breath. Even though it was a somewhat cloudy day, it was still so beautiful. A mixture of light and dark, fluffy clouds pierced by peak-a-boo points of blue sky that shot out bright sunrays from a heavenly point to spread out over the calm waters. It was like being in the happy ending of an old, animated Disney movie. And, although we were too late for the daily 1pm duck feeding, Candy was equally entertained, (as was I), by the nesting perch centered in a lovely circling of lush green marsh and the Osprey that was busily perfecting her nest. Nearby we also spotted an egret carefully stalking his way through the shallows and a stately Mallard couple out for an evening swim. Wow!
    Well, now that I've lulled you into a hazy, yummy place, I know you can't wait to hear about our meal. I'll start with Candy's choice. She, being 9, ordered, (what else?), the Chicken Nuggets. Candy said these were "great!" and we both found them to be extremely cool because they were in the shapes of dinosaurs! They weren't just yummy but also lots of fun! Candy practically performed an entire dino saga complete with roaring sound effects in between happy bites!
    Ryan, our server, was very accomodating and expedient but we never felt rushed. His timing was impeccable. Every dish arrived not too soon or too late and empty dishes were promptly wisked away. His reciting of the evening's specials was quite enticing and I opted to start out with the Cream of Roasted Red Pepper with Crab soup of the day. Mmmmmmm...Yes, and it's as mouth-wateringly delicious as it sounds. It arrived in a hungry-man sized bowl. This treasure was creamy and oh-so-smooth with a light tomatoey savor and a perfect kick of robust red pepper swirling around lots of sweet, tender hunks of lump crab. Yeah, baby!
    My next choice I couldn't resist once I saw the name in the apps section of the menu - Feta Fusion. Now I love Feta Cheese and this creative concoction did not disappoint. It was served in a mini casserole full-to-the-brim with a luscious mix of roasted feta chunks, black olives and fresh, ripe tomatoes in extra virgin olive oil with Greek oregano and cracked black pepper. The most adventurous of you might want to save this for dessert - it's not sweet but it sure is rich! The chef who came up with this original piece of excellence is nothing less than a genius - the tomatoes were the perfect companions to compliment the rich Feta and olives, as were the side of multigrain crackers. This dish was incredible! (editors note: it was actually Madlyn Carder herself.)
    I went all out ordering my entrée and chose BJ's New York Strip Special. A thick, 12 oz., juicy slab of center cut, choice, aged western beef, char-grilled to your delight; this steak is a winner to satisfy the biggest appetite and most discerning tastebud! I could only finish half of mine and the other half's in the fridge waiting as I ravenously relish the thought of my second serving. My sides of house salad and cole slaw were fresh and refreshing and the soft warm rolls were yummy with real butter and honey.
    You'll have to get to BJ's and check out the rest of their spectacular menu for yourselves. Delicious appetizers; the largest salad selection I've ever seen; more mouth-watering seafood, beef and pasta dishes; soups; and another really large selection of sandwiches!
    All in all, I'd say AWESOME! Awesome meal, incredible sights and fabulous time! BJ's, on the bay at 75th Street. Don't miss out on 30 years of food and fun!
