Friday July 30, 2004 Ocean City's #1 Information Guide

Hi, here we are again after another busy week gone by, and looking forward to one of the most exciting of the summer - the White Marlin Open. Throngs will gather to watch the weigh-ins at Harbour Island’s marina and visit the many vendor booths on the site. The Reel Inn Dock Bar will be lively providing food and live music day and night. So take a taxi, a boat or whatever, but check it out, Mon.-Fri.
Join the Campfyre Girls for a night of music at BJ’s on the Water Monday.
Mark your calendars for another cool happening this week, quite possibly the party of the summer, a huge Bacardi Partyat Fager’s Island Wed., Aug. 4, beginning at 8:30pm. Modeled after the Bacardi party in Las Vegas, this should be a real blast with music on the deck by DJ Lucky and Lima Bean Riot playing on the stage. Don’t miss it - Wednesday! The competition is heating up for the grand prize to be awarded on Aug. 31 to the winner of O.C.’s Idol Karaoke Competition. You could win the $150 gift certificate to Fager’s and maybe win the big $1,000! Every Tuesday. And every Thursday - party with Parrotville - Jimmy Buffett style!
BJ’s on the Water has been presenting some great talent this summer and this week is no exception. The Campfyre Girls will grace the stage Mon. Lauren, Kathy and maybe Dave on keys or maybe Jeff on bass or maybe Gary on drums will play some fabulous music for you. Ask Lauren to play a few from her latest CD release Keep On Movin. And, yes, Kathy is expecting and positively glowing.
The Ocean Club is alive with music day and night - Area Code on the beach stage and Power Play inside this weekend, followed by First Class Mon.-Wed. and Daddy O & the Sax Maniax returning Thur. to play thru Sat. Fans of Power Play will remember them from their years at Seacrets. Hailing from Virginia Beach, velvety vocalist Kay and husband Jay on guitar team up with Michael on trumpet and Everett on sax to produce some of the finest music on the coast. Check ‘em out.
Jive owners Tom & Linda Perlozzo are treated to some classic Larry Davis and the Pure Pleasure Show Band at Jive.
Speaking of fine music, I had the pleasure of hearing the Pure Pleasure Show Band at Jive last weekend. Larry Davis, Mr. Entertainer, is the lead vocalist   who has the power to electrify an audience. Larry’s been around the music scene since the ‘60s having performed with some of the biggest names in the business. When he gets into a number, he has the ability to pull you right into the music, into the lyrics, into the feeling. And he knows how to work a crowd, singing one-on-one to the ladies is his specialty. He and his band, complete with horns, will return to Jive Aug. 3-4. I’ll tell you more then.
This weekend at Jive will be fun again with Jacque “Saxman” Johnson and Lil Marge on vocals - what a powerhouse she is. Plus, the Tom Larsen Band returns on Thursday to shake the walls with his gutsy rockin’ blues and the sounds of that unbelievable bass man Charles.
