Get the best of both worlds with DJ Wax and Tim Cyphers & Danimal every Tuesday at Pickles Pub.
Hello, Ocean City. In our last issue of Coconut Times, we were all stoked for Halloween. I hope you checked out all of the creative costumes and Halloween hotspots around town. I donned my “big buck huntress” costume for Pickles Pub $2 Tuesday Halloween Party with Tim Cyphers and DJ Wax. Tim was looking fierce in his full-size Tigger costume, and DJ Wax was a handsome Greek God. The staff was looking smashing too, with Amber dressed as Madonna and Aaron dressed as a happy leprechaun. Congratulations to April Imparato who won “most creative” costume for her Dia de los Muertos apparel and make-up.
On Saturday night, my favorite locals and I got together and hit up Seacrets for its annual Halloween party. Everybody was there, and I heard someone say that Seacrets hosts the best Halloween party on the East Coast. I agree! This time I wore my Mom’s red-hot vintage flapper dress and arrived on the arm of a tall, handsome, zoot suit clad gangster, Joey Steward. April switched up her costume too, and dressed as the goblin king, Jareth, from the movie Labyrinth. She looked amazing. Congratulations to my girl, Lyndsey Robinson, who made it up onto the Seacrets stage as a finalist for the costume contest in her ubber creative jellyfish costume. Avatar and Barbie-in-a-box were on stage too, but the first prize went to the Top Gun crew. Of course, party band Kristen & the Noise rocked the house at Seacrets in their costumes, too. It was definitely a party for the ages.
Can you tell that Halloween is my favorite time of year to party in OC? Now that it’s passed, what’s going on around town in the live music scene? Plenty. Pickles Pub continues to be the meeting grounds for year-round locals on $2 Tuesday nights. Tim Cyphers plays your favorite modern rock hits on his acoustic guitar while Danimal smashes it up on the bongo drums. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, when Danimal goes berserk on the bongo drums, I can’t take my ears off him! DJ Wax brings all the locals to the dance floor in between the Tim Cyphers Duo’s sets. I love how Pickles rotates a rock band with a hip-hop deejay.  You really get the best of both worlds when you get pickled. Also, every Wednesday night, check out Open Mic with Livin’ The Dream. I know several talented local musicians, including Kasey B from the Phantom Limbs, make an appearance on stage to rock the open mic at Pickles.
Fager’s Island is at the top of my list of wintertime hotspots in Ocean City. The weekends are always jumping at Fager’s, especially on Saturday nights. This weekend, dance the night away on Friday while my friend, DJ Wood, spins your favorite music. On Saturday night, DJ Rob Cee spins dance music while party band Jumper rocks the stage. The following weekend, catch Tranzfusion on Friday, November 26, and Big Romeo on Saturday, November 27 at Fager’s Island.
Seacrets is a popular party place too—winter, spring, summer, and fall. This Friday night, November 19, Go Go Gadget is on tap. Saturday is jam packed with entertainment, including Rew Smith, DJ Bobby-O, 52 Pick Up, DJ Cruz, and Goodman Fiske. The following weekend, Amish Outlaws return to Seacrets on Friday night. Adding a dash of comedy to its rock recipe, Amish Outlaws is an experience you must see for yourself. Also, every Thursday night at Seacrets celebrate “Little Friday” with DJ Wax—locals, dancing, and drink specials galore!
The Steer Inn Tavern, BJ’s on the Water, 707 Sports Bar & Grille, and Dead Freddies are just a few more local venues that keep the live music playing year-round. Check out our calendar on www.coconuttimes.com for an updated weekly list of who’s where when. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everyone.
