The Freeman Stage At Bayside
Fenwick Island, Delaware
Monday, June 29th, 2015

Wow, what a fantastic night for Hall & Oates to bring their 2015 Tour to the Freeman Stage. Not a cloud in the sky, no wind and no bugs, even though I did see quite a few people with "OFF" cans in their possession. To think it was almost 30 years ago to the day, July 13, 1985, that I last saw them at the JFK Stadium in Philadelphia at the Live Aid Concert. Excitement and anticipation were high as we waited for them to appear.  At 8 pm sharp their six-piece backing band took the stage with Hall & Oates coming out last. They opened their set with "Maneater," "Out of Touch," and "Did It In A Minute," with quite a rowsing applause from the 2500 sold-out fans in the crowd. The 90-minute set was entirely from the 1970's and 1980's but for an intimate show like this, you would expect that all their biggest hits would be featured in their show. Next up was "Say It Isn't So," "Back Together Again," and a cover of The Righteous Brothers’ "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin', with a little sing-a-long from the crowd. Not saying much to the audience, at this point they went into "Las Vegas Turnaround,"  "She's Gone," and "Sara Smile," that was extended longer than the original, not by Hall & Oates but their backing band. I have to say here that long-time band member Charles DeChant was amazing on saxophone.
Hall then put his guitar down and got behind the piano to perform "Do What You Want, Be What You Are”  which segued into "I Can't Go For That," which also was extended a little longer than the original, to close out their first set.
With a short break they returned and Hall asked the crowd if anyone had heard of his show, "Live From Daryl's House," on the Palladia Channel (882 on Comcast), to which many fans showed by their applause that they have seen it. He said, “thank you for your support and keep watching because it’s an all new season coming up with new artists sitting in.” Then they played "Rich Girl" and "You Make My Dreams Come True," to close out the first encore. It doesn’t happen too often nowadays with their live shows, but they came out for a second encore to play "Kiss On My List," going right into  "Private Eyes” to end their show. It was such a perfect night that it seemed to fly by too quickly prompting many fans to hang around to talk about the show and how good the band had sounded.
