It's 6 a.m. and I'm leaning against the window looking out over the water watching the world wake up for yet another gorgeous day! The water is like glass - not a ripple until a fish farts or lets out an air bubble! The birds fly ever so low to the surface with the tips of their wings almost touching but not quite. They are searching for that prize of a baby crab or fish that swims too close to the surface at just the wrong time. It then becomes breakfast and ends up in the tummy of the lucky bird!
It's so quiet right before the sun peaks through the trees and then as if they were announcing the performance was about to begin, you hear the most beautiful sounds of birds starting to sing. The sun then bursts up from the horizon exploding rays through the trees and into the sky with pinks, blues and purples all meshed into one - An awakening like no other!
Quite a symphony Mother Nature puts on in the morning and then again as the sun goes down. It's as if it makes such a spectacular entrance at dawn that when it's time to go down, it struggles to do so. Slowly, ever so slowly, the sun rises into the sky, crosses over all day long only to disappear into the opposite side of the world with the same pomp and circumstance as when it came into our world just a few hours ago! As it falls away to awake on the other side of the world it waves good bye with all the same colors as it projects to say hello in the early morning and then we get a gift, the moon! (Yes, I know it’s really the earth moving and not the sun but where’s the poetry in that?)
Have you ever watched the moon rise out of the ocean? I have. Like the crest of a kingdom, it rises from the open ocean to presents itself to the world as a force not to be outdone. At special times of the year we are blessed with what's called a super moon or harvest moon. You’re in awe of the sight at first and then it just moves up and out of the ocean as if in slow motion to perch itself perfectly on the wall of the dark sky. “Show’s over I will just hang out here and light up the night, guys, so go on with your bonfires and enjoy the night,” it seems to say!
Some of us go on with our lives and never even notice this spectacular show that Mother Nature puts on for us everyday. Over the years many songs have been written about these magic times like "Sunrise, Sunset," "Bad Moon on the Rise," "Shine On Harvest Moon," "I Got Sunshine," (from “My Girl”) just to name a few. Some of the local bars and restaurants in town have chosen some great songs to which you can celebrate the sunsets; such as Fager's Island with Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture,” Macky’s with “God Bless America” and BJ's with "It's a Wonderful World." Whenever my band plays, at sunsets we play "Lights" by Journey; it's a great sunset song. Stop and take notice!
Those of you who know me can't believe that I was out of bed at 6 A.M. but I was and it was worth the ticket for the show - FREE! I could not even begin to count how many spectacular sunsets or moon risings I have been blessed to witness. I felt the world touch me this morning as I watched Mother Nature put on her show and I just had to share what is now etched in my brain and soul with you all! Just Sayin’!
Beauty Tip: What you put in your body might just be more important than what you put on the outside I think! I start out my morning with a bowl of the five or more fruits that the health experts suggest for a well maintained diet. I combine a grapefruit, orange, banana, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi and grapes in a bowl. Sometimes I throw all of these in a blender and add Almond milk, O.J. and a little honey for a great fruit smoothy. Your metabolism as well as your mind and energy level starts with what you put in your body first thing in the morning! So wake up your body with a good healthy breakfast! I'm Just Sayin’!
Quote of the Week: "Smile on the inside and it will show like sunshine on your face."!
