Johnny’s Pizza Pub presents Rob Fahey & The Pieces Saturday.
Hi, folks! The annual Halloween picture edition is here. I had a blast taking the pictures and I hope you have just as much fun checking out all the cool costumes and happy party people. The biggest surprise was how many people showed up for Barn 34’s very first Halloween party on Thursday. Really cool costumes; you’ll see what I mean when you check out their page. Music on Sat. nights has been really cool; last time out for me was to hear new duo Harry Seagulls. I should have gotten the story on that name for you, but I suspect it’s very tongue-in-cheek and may change. What’s important to know is that it’s Rymac from Colossal Fossil Sauce on congas/percussion and Harry O of the velvety voice on guitar. What a great blending of voices and talents. This Sat. enjoy the music of guitar virtuoso and singer/songwriter Tim Cooney. I heard him last at Fager’s Island where he impressed the audience with his guitar skills and entertained with a wonderful singing voice and song selection. Check him out and come early for dinner; Barn 34 chefs are the greatest.
Talk about good food - you’ve gotta try Ky West where management and chefs have changed. Our friend Mark Wagner is in residence and already entertaining visitors with his charm and wit. Read more about the new Ky West in our Best Bites review.
It may be getting colder but the music is still hot and ready to go. Check out Tranzfusion at BJ’s on Fri. and Sat. nights. They always sound awesome in this house and they love it when they play a double header - no equipment breakdown on Fri. Yay! Come on back on Wed for the awesome sounds of Thin Ice. These guys and gals have put together a very solid show of classic hits utilizing all their many talents, both instrumental and vocal. Always a pleasure. Two members, Paul & Crystal, are also members of Teenage Rust & The Fabulous Rustettes. I have to say how much we all loved hearing them play together again with Billy, Maddy, Joe Smooth & T Lutz for the Halloween party. They sounded great! But, you know, it’s always fun at BJ’s. Last week we celebrated June’s birthday (drummer Ray’s wife) while Old School played with new guitarist Taylor Knox who did an outstanding job. He’s a fabulous guitarist, sings and has the best smile - what a cutie! Linda, Erve, Ray & Taylor will be back on Wed., Dec. 3.
What a thrill I had last Mon. when Bryan Clark invited me up to sing a song during his show at Fager’s Island. Totally out of practice, I was stressing about the lyrics but with only one flub sang “At Last.” To be praised by one so amazing as Bryan was a huge compliment indeed. Let me encourage you to head to Fager’s tonight to hear a very beautiful and charming singer/songwriter performing at 6pm. Her name is Melissa Alesi. Not only does she sing like a bird, but she is also a most accomplished guitarist. Come on back Sat. to rock out with Scott’s New Band. These guys are fabulously dynamic. Scott has one of the best voices in the business with energy to match. Awesome!
Johnny’s Pizza Pub has been fun on Wednesdays w/ Randy Lee & Jimmy Rowbottom and friends. Even owner Johnny is playing some lead guitar now. The Flying Pepperonis I believe is being bandied about as a new band name?! Too much fun. Check in Fri. (tonight) for Harry O (love me some Harry) and come back on Sat. for awesome rocker and amazing guitarist Rob Fahey.
Have you been to a Sat. Ladies Night w/ DJ BK yet? Put on your dancing shoes and party with him at Hooters. That’s right, ladies. Great prices, great music.
Coconut Times will be back in two weeks for the Thanksgiving edition. Meanwhile party on and happy b’day Helen!
